Leading up to this year’s Gŵyl Tawe on Saturday the 6th of June at the National Waterfront Museum, Menter Iaith Abertawe are excited to present a special Coffee Shop Session in partnership with Swansea Building Society Arena. In a special event, there will also be a Bake Sale on offer, with all proceeds going to Wales Air Ambulance.
Taking place in the afternoon of Friday the 15th of May in the arena’s foyer, the event will feature special stripped back sets from Gŵyl Tawe favourites Mali Hâf and Mari Mathias, to give you a taste of the festival.
Since reaching the top three in last year's Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition, Cardiff based pop star Mali Hâf has continued to shine, releasing a string of new songs this year, including her EP Miwsli and the political song "Cymru Knockin'". Mali Hâf is an artist who continues to experiment with her sound, but one thing is certain: her rich voice shines through every track. Her music combines electronic, catchy and mysterious elements, creating a unique sonic world that stays with the listener. Mali and her band played to a packed-out Ocean Room stage at Gŵyl Tawe 2025.
Mari Mathias conjures up bold & compelling contemporary folk songs, seemingly sculpted from the celestial yet inspired by land, memory and myth. Answering to a higher calling, she preserves her rich cultural inheritance through transforming traditional melodies, collected from the wilds of west coast of Cymru, into immersive, multi-dimensional modern anthems that feel both ancient and strikingly new. As well as appearing on the Museum Garden stage with her solo band in 2025, Mari will also be appearing at this year’s Gŵyl Tawe with her band MWSOG.
